As the year closes out, we take the time to pause and reflect on our growth and highlights over 2015. Over the year we have worked on many new and exciting projects across industries, such as news sites, financial tech, technology consulting, ecommerce, CDNs, corporate legal firms and more. Third & Grove was named a Most Valuable Partner at Acquia and also selected as an Acquia Partner Site of the Year winner. Our work was recognized in Boston Magazine and webdesignerdepot.com.
We practically doubled our team (again!), and expanded our internship program, which now continues throughout the year. As a distributed company, we all were excited about our first-ever company retreat in Cambridge. And we welcome two new additions to the TAG extended family, both born in the last two weeks of December!
On the Drupal front, we released new modules to the Drupal community (Personalize panel, GlobalLink), created a Drupal 7 Starter Skeleton, and became 100% Acquia Drupal Certified. We were excited to participate in the local planning for DrupalCon 2015 in Barcelona, co-sponsor a local working session, and co-sponsor the Drupal 8 release party in San Francisco.
We especially wish to thank our partners and clients for another memorable year, and look forward to our continued collaboration in 2016.
We asked members of our team to share their favorite moments of 2015 and what they are looking forward to in the new year. Hands-down was the company retreat this past October, and for 2016 the team is looking forward to working with Drupal 8.
Justin: The highlight of 2015 was throwing our first company retreat. I learned I have a lot to learn about leadership. In 2016 I want to double the size of the company.
Ben: The highlight of my year was definitely the retreat. Getting the chance to meet the many developers I collaborate with remotely on a daily basis in person for the first time was great, and helped me feel like I knew the members of our team better. Getting a chance to give back and to the Friends of Boston's Homeless along with my co-workers was also a real highlight. In 2016, I look forward to growing more as a Producer and collaborating more with our developers.
Brandon: I had a great time this year working in Laravel on a web app that helps lots of people. I also loved the company retreat and spending some face time with the team. Next year I'm looking forward to seeing what great projects are being done with Drupal 8.
Wes: My most satisfying project this year was developing a complex Web application in Drupal 7 for Novartis. Updating my workflow to use Vagrant and deployment scripts has really upped my game. In 2016 I'm most looking forward to diving head first into Drupal 8!
Antonella: One highlight of 2015 was working on the local organization for the Barcelona Drupal Conference and attending the conference. Another fave was definitely the company retreat and meeting many of my colleagues in person. In 2016 I look forward to scaling the QA team and continuing to improve QA workflows.
Nick: I joined TAG late 2015 but by far my favorite moment was the company retreat. Specifically, our group charity challenge for Friends of Boston's Homeless. It was a great experience to give back and to learn more about my coworkers. In 2016 I'm looking forward to taking on a Drupal 8 project!
Alicia: 2015 was easily the craziest year for me. I flew out to join the company in San Francisco for the summer, and flew back to continue working in the Cambridge office. The time in San Francisco was fantastic and was easily one of the biggest highlights of my life. The company retreat is a close second where I had the ability to meet so many people I had been working with for the first time in person. The highlight for the retreat had to be the group challenge to help the charity "Friends of Boston's Homeless" because not only did we try to compete against other groups to get the best bang for the buck, but we ultimately helped many people in the process. In 2016 I look forward to using what new skills and experiences I have to further myself however I can.
Damià: The highlight was definitely the company retreat, and the chance to finally meet my awesome coworkers in person. My favorite project was the Fastly website, because of all the QA and testing challenges it posed. For 2016 I’m looking forward to a Drupal 8 project, and hoping to find better ways of integrating QA and testing software into the company’s workflow.
Tony: My 2015 highlight was getting to meet everyone at the retreat. Tha TAG "family" is a very interesting and innovative group of people. I look forward to 2016 when TAG establishes itself as a premier agency and we continue to hire key people that will improve our work life and work product.
Curtis: The highlight of my year was the company retreat. It was really nice to meet everyone in person and not necessarily be talking about work related things. I especially since we talk to eachother in Slack every day. In 2016, I am looking forward to running with Drupal 8.
Ashley: The highlight of this year was starting my job at this awesome company just a couple of short months ago. Third & Grove is such a wonderful group of people, that make everyone feel welcome and at home on their first day. I can't wait to see what 2016 brings and am looking forward to getting to know everyone better and meeting more of my co-workers in person.
Jack: The company retreat was a blast. It was great to put faces on everyone's Slack personas, and each member of the geographically diverse team had something unique to offer. Aside from the retreat, when I look back on my brief stay at Third & Grove I’ll ultimately remember how much I learned about being a better software engineer.
