Retrospective on Hiring a Drupal 8 Core Maintainer

With DrupalCon New Orleans just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to look back on our decision to invest in Drupal.

Three months ago we announced that, in response to Dries’ call to arms, we had hired Drupal core maintainer Nathaniel Catchpole (known as catch, online) to continue working on Drupal core. We also shared the news on LinkedIn, where I talked more broadly about supporting open-source projects.

The decision to invest in Drupal was not a simple one for Tony and I, as it was our agency’s first major R&D/marketing spend, but looking back I am absolutely thrilled we did it.

Catch has helped mentor our team of engineers, provide expert architectural guidance on Drupal 8 projects, and has increased overall project efficiency by helping with roadblocks. Having catch on the team has accelerated our already rapidly growing awareness of our position as leaders in the enterprise Drupal space.

We have had a busy start to 2016, with major Drupal site launches for Benefit Cosmetics and Drupal 8 sites TPG and Granite Construction. We are growing: come work here! It feels great to give back to an amazing open-source platform that has given TAG so much, fueled our growth, and is so damn fun to build big sites on.
